Once a year an activity turns the Malian town of Djenné upside-down! The town bustles of activity when the Grande Mosquée is being renovated. The largest mud-built structure in the world needs a new layer of mud on a yearly basis.
Young and old is involved, girls carry in buckets of water, boys carry baskets of mud, men do the plastering and in the meantime the women are busy cooking meals to feed the hungry workers.
Teamwork, a touch of competition, lots of fun go hand in hand with tradition, religion and culture.
Are you in Mali and looking forward to being part of this experience?
We have a few places available on the trip to Djenné scheduled for 12 & 13 April.
