The old town of Djenné, nicknamed the capital of mud, is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Mamadou takes us on a tour along adobe buildings, traditional architecture, and koranic schools. Visits are made to a manuscript library, to the sacred well, to the tomb of Pama and to the Great Mosque. We not only see the largest mud-built structure in the world from the outside, we are granted access to the interior and to the rooftop.
