Experience Mali in a unique way;
Cruise the Niger river by boat and get an impression of life in the waterside villages.
We take you out on the river on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February.
From Ségou the trip starts around noon on Saturday. Traveling at a pleasant pace the boat heads towards Farako pottery village. Along the way you're served lunch, prepared by the captain himself.
The village of Farako is visited and you meet a pottery family. With a bit of luck the week's produce is baked today. If so the chance is grabbed to take a look at the impressive fires.
After the village visit the trip goes a bit further upstream. Chances are that hippos are seen along the way.
Camp is made on an island.
After breakfast the Sunday morning starts with - depending on the water level - a visit to the nearby village of Kamalé, before slowly starting the way back.
A stop is made at Segoukoro, in former times capital of the Bambara Kingdom. The village is visited.
Return at the Segou river quay is foreseen around 2pm.
The trip is suitable for families with (small) children.
