Are you traveling to Mali in September and looking for a chance to join a trip or parts of it?
We have a guaranteed departure on a trip scheduled from 20-29 September 2014.
In short
day 1-3: Ségou & surroundings
day 4: Ségou - Djenné
day 5-6: Djenné & surroundings
day 7: Djenné - Dogon Country
day 8-10: Dogon trekking
Away from the beaten tourist tracks you’ll set out on a journey through lesser-known Mali, to the countryside and in touch with the local people.
In Ségou and its surroundings you’ll connect with life on the river bank. The Niger river is the country’s life line, a source for agriculture and local life.
In Djenné mud-architecture and the largest mud-built structure in the world are awaiting you, as well as the surrounding villages, inhabited by several different ethnic groups.
In Dogon Country it feels like time stood still. Electricity and running water are not yet part of daily life, which is being lived by the rhythm of the seasons and day and night.
Located around the Bandiagara Escarpment, Dogon Country, now home to the Dogon people, was once inhabited by the Tellem, who created the famous cliff houses. On the plateau and in the valley the mud-built villages with their typical granaries and lovely mosques breathe a quiet atmosphere.
