day 1
Leave Ségou in the morning by pinasse to travel downstream to Markala. Along the way one or two villages are visited, allowing you to get an impression of every day life in the riverside villages.
Lunch - prepared by the crew - is eaten along the way and arrival in Markala is expected around 2pm. A stroll through town takes you to the festival grounds, where - if all goes according to plan - the afternoon activities are about to start. While you enjoy the festival, camp will be set up by the crew and dinner will be ready by the time the afternoon activities have come to an end. In the evening more masks and puppets will enter the festival ground.
The night is spent camping in Markala.
day 2
After breakfast explore Markala and its barrage - if you haven’t yet done so yesterday - before getting back on board of the pinasse for the journey back to Ségou. Enjoy the quiet surroundings after yesterday’s bustle.
Arrival in Ségou is expected at 2pm. Visit villages along the way and / or enjoy a refreshing swim in the river.
